When we want to make a point, about not being as young and fresh as we used to be, we sometimes make reference to not being a Spring chicken anymore. The reference, being about youthfulness.
However, how often, do we make a reference to being like a Fall turkey, when we want to convey the message that we are in a stage of a ripe old age?
